How to make Kavala Cookies?
- 200 grams of powdered almonds
- 150 grams of butter
- 100 grams of caster sugar
- 1 teaspoon of wheat starch
- 2 eggs
- 1 packet of vanilla
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 100 grams of broken almonds
- Flour as much as it takes (Approximately 2 glasses)
How is it done?
Put flour and powdered almonds in a pan on a medium heat and fry. Then roast the broken almonds. Knead your cooled flour and almond mixture, powdered sugar, butter, baking powder, vanilla and starch and add to this mixture. Finally, add the broken almonds and continue to knead. Take out the equal sized meringues from the dough and give the shape of a moon.
Place it on a baking tray you have covered with greaseproof paper. Bake in 180 degree oven for about 20 minutes. Leave the oven door slightly open and leave it inside to cool. While it is warm, dip it in powdered sugar and place it on a flat plate. With the help of a filter, you can pour powdered sugar on them again. Enjoy your cookies…
