Menengic is the basic plant of Menengic Coffee; It is a type of pistachio tree that grows wild in Southeastern Anatolia, Central Anatolia and the higher parts of the Mediterranean region in Turkey. This plant, known as Pictacia Perebinthus in Latin, named Çitlembik, Çıtlık, Bıttım and Çedene according to the regions where it is grown, grows slowly and can reach up to 10 meters. Although it grows in all soil types, it gives the best yield in dry and soft soil.
Menengic blooms in red and turns blue / purple when ripe. The ripe beans are collected, washed then dried. After it is dried, it is roasted and roasted like coffee until it turns dark brown. After the normal roasting process, the coffee beans are crushed until they reach a paste consistency. The oily and granular paste obtained is called Menengic Coffee.
Menengic coffee does not contain caffeine like other coffees. Because it is completely natural, the benefits are countless. It is good for helping shortness of breath, vocal cords, respiratory tract, stomach, and kidney. It also has an aphrodisiac effect. It contains protein, fiber, fat, phosphorus, calcium, iron, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C and vitamin E. It has no known side effects. Menengic is cooked in a pot and slow fire just like Turkish coffee. Two teaspoons of menengic coffee, a cup of milk, and optional sugar are added per cup. Boiled two times by stirring continuously. It can be served with nuts and water.
