Hosmerim is a local cheese dessert identified with Balıkesir, mentioned in Evliya Çelebi’s Seyahatname. Today, this dessert is made in many different provinces, from Çanakkale to Yozgat. Höşmerim, a kind of “cheese halva”, which is one of the most popular local recipes, is also one of the most popular dessert recipes.
The temperature of the milk and the ratio of rennet are important. Although there are different making techniques, the basic recipe includes the following ingredients. Hosmerim Dessert Recipe

Are you wondering how to make a delicious and traditional hosmerim dessert recipe at your home? Here we share the best hosmerim dessert recipe with you.

Ingredients

1-liter milk
1 tablespoon rennet
1 water glass semolina
3 water glasses of granulated sugar
1 quantity of egg yolk

How to Make Hosmerim Dessert

Put the milk in a deep pot and warm it slightly over low heat. Cook the dessert mixture by stirring constantly to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
1. Put the milk in the pot. Bring it to a temperature that your little finger can touch. Add the rennet to the warm milk.
2. Cover the pot and let it ferment for 1 hour.
3. When the sediment forms as you see in the picture, it is ready.
4. Strain the water from the fermented cheese.
5. Put the drained cheese, semolina, sugar, and egg yolk into the pot. Cook while stirring continuously. You can add half a teaspoon of turmeric if you want the color of the höşmerim to be yellow.
6. Rest your cooked dessert and take it to the plate. You can serve it with creamy ice cream. Enjoy your meal.
