Organic Bee Bread (Perga) from the Taurus Mountains
Bee bread, also called perga or arı ekmeği in Turkish, is bee pollen that honey bees store in the honeycomb, where it ferments. Our organic bee bread comes from a plateau at about 2,500 m (8,200 ft) in the Taurus Mountains of Mersin, Türkiye, and is shipped worldwide from Istanbul.
- Organic: certified organic in Türkiye (2026 harvest, certificate TR-OT-42-Ü-2414-2026-056)
- Harvest: taken straight from the comb, without drying, only during the bees’ winter preparation
- Contents: 150 g (5.30 oz) of bee bread granules in a glass jar
- Additives: none
- Shelf life: 24 months; keep in a cool, dry place
What Is Bee Bread (Perga)?
Bee bread is pollen that bees pack into honeycomb cells, mix with a small amount of honey and seal with wax. Inside the sealed cells the pollen ferments and becomes bee bread. Bees keep it as a food store for the colony, especially for winter.
What Is the Difference Between Bee Bread and Bee Pollen?
Bee pollen is collected at the hive entrance before bees store it. Bee bread is the same pollen after bees have packed it into the comb and it has fermented. For fresh pollen granules, see our Anzer bee pollen.
How Do You Eat Bee Bread?
Bee bread granules can be eaten on their own or mixed with water, honey, milk or yogurt. A suggested serving for adults is about 10 pieces a day, ideally in the morning. Bee bread contains pollen: if you are allergic to pollen or bee products, ask your doctor before trying it.

I am in Canada and the products I ordered arrived at my doorstep in four days with no problems and in good shape. I add bee pollen and bee bread/perga to my yogurt every morning. Having these from Turkey, ensures that I have well-rounded health benefits from many different botanicals. I am very pleased with the products and will be ordering more.

I’ve been hearing about the benefits of bee pollen and be bread for some time now. I purchased a low tier bee bread product some time ago and wasn’t disappointed pleased. I’m glad I ran into this bread. The quality of the bee bread is very fresh. I felt the benefits within a short span of time. Worth the purchase and the price is a really great value. I would definitely recommend especially since the product is ethically sourced and organic. Will be a regular within my supplement intake.
